Spinefarm Records on kiinnittänyt Ruotsin kovimman black metal – bändin Shiningin!
Niklas Kvarforthin vuonna 1996 Halmstadissa perustama Shining alkoi perinteisenä black metal-bändinä ja kehittyi vuosien saatossa yhdeksi kiistellyimmistä äärimetallibändeistä. Tänä päivänä Shining yhdistelee musiikissaan äärimmäisen kaunista soundimaailmaa epätoivoa ja itsetuhoa huokuviin lyriikoihin ja toukokuun 11. päivä julkaistava uusi albumi ”VII: Född Förlorare” vie nämä elementit yhä pidemmälle.
Albumilla vierailevat Chris Amott (Arch Enemy), Erik Danielsson (Watain) ja paremmin Nordmanina tunnettu ruotsalainen poptähti Håkan Hemlin.
Vaikuttavista, kiistellyistä ja brutaaleistakin live-esiintymisistään tunnettu Shining saapuu toukokuussa Suomeen neljälle keikalle: bändi nähdään 11.5. Tampereen Yo-talolla, 12.5. Jyväskylän Lutakossa, 13.5. Kuopion Henry’s Pubissa ja 14.5. Helsingin Nosturissa.
Alexi Laiho valittiin maailman parhaaksi metallikitaristiksi
Children Of Bodomin Alexi Laiho on voittanut maailman parhaan metallikitaristin tittelin brittiläisen Total Guitar -lehden lukijaäänestyksessä. Aiemmin Laiho on voittanut saman tittelin yhdysvaltalaisen Guitar World -lehden äänestyksessä.
Total Guitarin äänestykseen osallistui lähes 70 000 lehden lukijaa. Laiho sai annetuista äänistä 22 prosenttia. Laihon perässä kakkoseksi sijoittui Dream Theaterin John Petrucci. Kolmossijan vei Slipknotin Mick Thomson.
Children Of Bodom esiintyy huomenna tiistaina Helsingin jäähallissa.
Viikatteelta kokoelma toukokuussa!
Viikate julkaisee viisitoistavuotisen uransa kunniaksi mittavan kokoelman 4. toukokuuta. "Kuutamo, kaiho & katkeruus" niminen julkaisu pitää sisällään kolme cd:tä, 54 kappaletta eli reilut kolme ja puoli tuntia mollissa kulkevaa musiikki-ilottelua.
Perinteisen kolmen cd:n digipackin lisäksi kokoelmasta julkaistaan 64-sivuinen kovakantinen kirjaversio, joka sisältää runsaasti harvinaista kuvamateriaalia V-partion pitkältä tuntuneen taipaleen varrelta. Mukana on myös tarinoita kappaleiden takaa, laulujen sanoitukset sekä soittajaesittelyt. Kirjaversion julkaisupäivä on 18.5.
Nimensä mukaan paketti jakautuu kolmeen omaan kokonaisuuteensa:
Levy 1, eli "Kuutamo" on häikäilemätön hittilevy, joka koostuu pääasiassa singleinä julkaistuista kappaleista sekä suosituista keikkanumeroista. "Kuutamo" julkaistaan 4.5. myös erillisenä yhden levyn huotoasema-editinä.
Levy 2, "Kaiho", sisältää niin sanotut harvinaisuudet eli sinkkujen b-puolet sekä albumien LP-versioiden bonuskappaleet.
Levy 3, "Katkeruus", pitää sisällään kaikki Viikatteen levyttämät lainakappaleet.

Children Of Bodomin tänään julkaistu albumi ”Relentless, Reckless Forever” on myynyt kultaa eli yli 10 000 kappaletta!
Maailmanlaajuisesti uutta albumia on myyty jo yli 100 000 kappaletta. Kyseessä on bändin seitsemäs studioalbumi ja sen tuotti aiemmin mm. Slayerin kanssa työskennellyt Matt Hyde.
Bändin ”The Ugly World Tour” – kiertue alkaa kahden viikon päästä kolmella Suomen keikalla. Children Of Bodom nähdään 19.3. Oulun Teatriassa, 20.3. Tampereen Pakkahuoneella ja 22.3. Helsingin jäähallissa. Kolmen Suomen keikan jälkeen bändi suuntaa Eurooppaan kiertueelle, joka kestää toukokuun puoliväliin saakka.

Ruotsalainen Sparzanza aloittaa Suomen keikkansa tänään Jyväskylästä! Huomenna vuorossa on Tampere, perjantaina Kouvola ja lauantaina Helsinki. Lisäksi bändi esiintyy akustisella keikalla Tampereen Levykauppa Äxässä huomenna klo 16.00 ja lauantaina Helsingin Äxässä klo 15.00.

Spinefarm Records on kiinnittänyt helsinkiläisen pakanalauman Brymirin!
Melodista ja nopeata folk-vaikutteista metallia soittava Brymir on kunnianhimoisen esikoisensa julkaisun kynnyksellä. Vuonna 2006 perustettu yhtye julkaisee albuminsa ”Breathe Fire To The Sun” huhtikuun 6. päivä! Synkkä ja haikea Brymir-debyytti vie folk metalia äärimmäisyyksiin valtavin orkestraatioin ja raskain soinnuin, joita voisi kuvailla yksinkertaisesti sanalla ”eeppinen”.
Brymirin kokoonpanossa soittavat Joona Björkroth (kitara), Viktor Gullichsen (laulu), Sean Haslam (kitara), Janne Björkroth (koskettimet), Jarkko Niemi (basso) ja Sami Hänninen (rummut).
”Albumin ’Breathe Fire To The Sunin’ vuosia kestänyt työstäminen on ollut raskasta ja raastavaa mutta samalla erityisen palkitsevaa”, kommentoi yhtye esikoisensa synnytystä. Lopputuloksena onkin erityisen suuriääninen ja vakuuttava debyyttilevy, joka nostaa Brymirin kertaheitolla genrensä mielenkiintoisimpiin bändeihin.

Dreamshaden debyyttialbumi ulkona tänään!
Sveitsiläinen melodeath-bändi Dreamshade julkaisi debyyttilevynsä “What Silence Hides” tänään keskiviikkona. Nämä kuusi lahjakasta nuorukaista julkaisivat omakustanteisen EP:n vuonna 2008, kaksi vuotta bändin perustamisen jälkeen, ja saivat loistavaa palautetta ympäri maailmaa. Children Of Bodom: Relentless Reckless Forever
Children Of Bodom julkaisee uuden albumin maaliskuun 9. päivä 2011! Kyseessä on bändin seitsemäs studioalbumi ja se kantaa nimeä ”Relentless Reckless Forever”. Albumin tuotti Matt Hyde (Slayer, Monster Magnet). Ensimmäinen single ”Was It Worth It?” lähtee radiosoittoon heti vuoden vaihduttua.

KIUAS ANNOUNCES THE DEPARTURE OF LEAD SINGER
Hello folks! We have some startling news: our lead singer Ilja Jalkanen has decided to leave the band after some serious thinking. The reasons for this are purely musical and the chemistry within the band has always been great. In Ilja’s own words: “My heart is not in heavy metal anymore, and a great band like Kiuas deserves a singer completely dedicated to the music.”
However, as all the fans know, although Ilja has been the voice of Kiuas for many years, his contribution to the songwriting has been very minimal and thus his departure won’t affect the bands musical direction or diminish the power of the music in the future in any way. The fact is that Kiuas will be able to continue it’s musical journey with passion only without Ilja – this is the only way to go.
Unfortunately Ilja won’t be able to perform the gigs we have booked for October 29th-31st. We we’re on the verge of cancelling them, but luckily we were able to get talented vocalist Asim Searah to stand in for Ilja on those gigs. We apologize for announcing this so late, but we had agreed with the local promoters to do the UK tour before we announced Ilja leaving the band.
We also have some good news: Ilja will still perform a farewell gig with Kiuas in Helsinki in January 2011. The exact date and venue will be announced later.

"Arctica", the new video from Finnish female-fronted symphonic metallers AMBERIAN DAWN, can be viewed below. The clip was directed by Markus Nieminen of Routafilmi.
"Arctica" comes off AMBERIAN DAWN's third album, "End Of Eden", which is being released today (October 20) via Spinefarm Records. According to songwriter Tuomas Seppälä, the group's new CD is heavier than its predecessors, with a bigger, more polymorphic sound."
"End Of Eden" features a guest appearances by keyboardist Jens Johansson (STRATOVARIUS, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN), opera singer Markus Nieminen and vocalist Peter James Goodman.

Spinefarm Records has signed Crimfall
Crimfall has joined the ranks of Spinefarm record label and the release date of the yet unnamed second album has been set to be March of 2011!
Crimfall merges many genres from folk to black metal and wraps it up with expression better known from the world of movies and their soundtracks. The band itself describes their new album to be more epic, grandiose, extreme and more dramatic than their debut piece. Upholding the chosen path from the previous work but leading the listener to new sceneries and seasons; as the debut album’s themes were of fire and summer’s swift ending this one takes us to the coldest winter and unto brace of war with its ruthless reality stripped from heroics and glory. The album also features many visitors well recognized from Finnish Folk Metal Scene.
Beginning as Jakke Viitala’s one man project Crimfall took shape in the year of 2007 until Helena Haaparanta and Mikko Häkkinen enlisted to take care of vocalist responsibilities. The first album “As The Path Unfolds… “was done with session musicians but after the release in 2009 the line-up stabilized as Janne Jukarainen (drums) and Miska Sipiläinen (bass) were hired to be permanent members. The producing of the second album was financed by the band itself and although the process was indeed arduous and long the band claims their newborn outshines their previous work in every aspect.
Hannu Lehtonen from Spinefarm adds his comments: “ It is great to have Crimfall as new artist in Spinefarm. I can honestly say that the bands forthcoming second album is worth the wait. The band is in killer shape and has recorded an excellent piece of music which will be released in spring 2011.”

Rock legend Michael Monroe signs international recording deal with Spinefarm / Universal music
MICHAEL MONROE,iconic rock‘n’roll frontman and founding member of hugely influential Finnish outfit Hanoi Rocks,has entered into a recording agreement with Universal Music. The first fruits of this international deal will be a brand new live album, ‘Another Night In The Sun/Live In Helsinki’, set for release on September 27th 2010. This 15-track outing will be made available through Universal subsidiary, Spinefarm Records.
Says Jarkko Nordlund, Managing Director, Universal Music Finland “Michael Monroe is a true international rock star, and Universal Music’s international network is extremely proud to be working with him. Spinefarm Records is the best home for this rock‘n’roll legend, as both label and artist share the same degree of professionalism and passion.”
Mixed in LA by Niko Bolas (whose credits include Neil Young, Frank Sinatra, Keith Richards, Kiss, Spinal Tap and more) and mastered by Grammy winner Richard Dodd (the man behind Tom Petty and Dixie Chicks), ‘Another Night…’ – recorded on July 6th at the Tavastia Club, Helsinki – features key tracks from Monroe’s solo career spiced up with selected Hanoi classics, some well-chosen covers, plus two brand new, unreleased songs.

Spinefarm Records has signed Danish act The Storm!
”Black Luck” is the second album for the Storm and it will be released on October 27th.
Since the band was found 2006 it has been one of the most successful and renowned bands in Denmark among the media and music fans. The Storm consists of e charismatic vocalist Pernille Rosendahl (ex-Swan Lee) and Johan Wohlert (ex-Mew)
Their debut album ”Where the Storm Meets the Ground” has sold platinum in Denmark. The album was produced by Roy Thomas Baker who is well known from his work with artists like Queen, Ozzy Osbourne, Motley Crüe and Guns N’Roses.
The new ”Black Luck” album was produced by Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Hatesphere) and Volbeat-vocalist Michael Poulsen is also featured on the album as a co-vocalist. In return Pernilla has been a guest vocalist on Volbeat's ”Guitar Gangsters & Cadillac Blood”-album.

Spinefarm signs worldwide deal with Dreamshade
DREAMSHADE, new melodic death metal sensation from Switzerland, have now signed a
worldwide deal with Spinefarm/Universal.
The first long-playing record “What Silence Hides” was already recorded last fall
and the release of the album is expected to be end January 2011

the top a lot of bands who were among our main influences when we started our own
project. It's definitely an honor to be under the same roof where Children Of Bodom,

“What Silence Hides” was recorded at Cave Studios in Switzerland, produced by Etan
Genini of BlackAce, mixed by Fredrik Nordström at Fredman Studio in Gothenburg,
Sweden, and mastered by George Marino at Sterling Sound in New York, USA.
Dreamshade was formed in 2006 by guitarists Rocco and Fella. Their first EP “To The
Edge Of Reality”, released in 2008, gained an excellent response all over the world.
During the last two years the band played several shows including various summer
festivals (Metal Camp, Summer Breeze, Metalfest …) and support shows with the big
names of the metal scene.
Their music is a combination of melodic death and progressive metal that together
with emotional harmonies creates new atmospheres which have never been heard before.
A perfect match for those who expect something new and a step forward in melodeath.

Spinefarm Records has signed Sparzanza!
The band's new album will be released in early 2011.
Sparzanza's previous album "In Voodoo Veritas" was a success in Scandinavia, and gathered much respect from the rest of the world as well.

Blackmore's Night joins paths with Spinefarm Records
Blackmore's Night, the renaissance-inspired rock band formed by Ritchie Blackmore and his wife Candice Night, will release their new album "Autumn Sky" on September 3rd through Spinefarm Records / Universal Music.
With a career spanning nearly two decades, the band has gained cross over success all over the world with its fantastic medieval and renaissance inspired tunes.
"Autumn Sky" brings us 15 new Blackmore's Night songs, full of emotion with a touch of past times and magical atmospheres, again being a powerful proof of the versatility of Ritchie Blackmore and Candice Night's repertoire.

Spinefarm signs AMBERIAN DAWN!
Spinefarm Records has signed Finnish metal act Amberian Dawn! Their third album ”End Of Eden” will be released on October 20th.
Led by songwriter Tuomas Seppälä, in 2008 the band released their debut album ”River Of Tuoni”, which was followed up with ”The Clouds Of Northern Thunder” in 2009.
Amberian Dawn have done 2 European tours with Epica and a new tour is in the plans after the album's release.
Band is no stranger to radio play either - Iron Maiden's Bruce Dickinson praised the band's music after they had toured the UK and gave AD lots of air time on his show on BBC6 during the release of The Clouds Of Northern Thunder.
Music of Amberian Dawn is bombastic and melodic, singer Heidi Parviainen has been gifted with a magnificent voice that makes Amberain Dawn stand out from the ever growing crowd of operatic metal. Heidi is also responsible for the lyrics which are based on Finnish mythology.
Tuomas describes this new album to be heavier than its predecessors with a bigger, more polymorphic sound.
Keyboard wizard Jens Johansson (famed for his work with for example Stratovarius and Yngwie Malmsteen's Rising Force) guest stars on the album.

After six full-lenght albums, Entwine has now released a 2CD compilation, containing all the heartbreaking Entwine killers, two brand new tracks as well as acoustic and remixed versions from the lighter and brighter side of these gloomsters.
Metsatöll's new album sells over 13 000 copies
"Äio", the fourth full-length album by the Estonian giants of folk metal Metsatöll, has sold over 13 000 copies in three months. The album, sung in Estonian, is available in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, the Netherlands and other bigger markets, and up until today, already 7 000 copies have been sold in foreign markets. Local fans in Estonia have bought 6 000 regular or limited versions of "Äio". Also included in the results are the digital sales of both the full album as well as separate tracks. "Äio" was released by the world's leading music company Universal Music's sister label, the metal-oriented Spinefarm Records.
Metsatöll's vocalist Markus Teeäär is very pleased with the album sales: "We are positively surprised at the sales figures, and also more convinced than before that Estonian audiences care about us as much as we care about them. The results from abroad, though, came as a true bombshell. It has to be said that were it not for the undaunted and hard work of Universal, we would not be seeing these figures now."
"As a record label, we are convinced that this is only the beginning of Metsatöll's success story, since for most of the world they are a new and totally fresh phenomenon. This year's plans for the band include a number of performances at several massive metal festivals of the world, as well as a couple of European tours," assured Leen Kadakas, label manager for Universal Music Baltic.

One of the most important gigs for Metsatöll this year is the performance at the Wacken Open Air festival in Germany, taking place in August 5. - 7. W:O:A is the biggest festival for metal music in the world. Having started out in 1990 as an event with a couple of hundred of participants, it has by now grown into a massive festival with 70.80 bands, visited by more than 70 000 people.
The list of performers this year contains a plethora of truly great acts such as Iron Maiden, Mötley Crüe, Alice Cooper and Slayer. Metsatöll will perform on August 7th, the last day of the festival, at 5.45 pm.
Artists as well as audiences have frequently dubbed Wacken Open Air the best-organized metal-fest in the world.
There are still seats available for the Metsatöll fan-trip from Estonia to Wacken, organized by none other than Metal Travel Agency. Fans can purchase a comfortable package to the 40-person bus trip, and mosh together with the band in Germany.
"Those who wish to travel with us to Wacken, Germany, can join the trip despite the fact that the festival is sold out. Metal Travel Agency offers a package that includes the travel, a festival pass and a night in Poland on the return trip," comments Metsatöll˙s drummer Marko Atso.

CELESTY ylpeänä tiedottaa: Tony Turunen uudeksi laulajaksi
Seinäjokelaisen voimametalliyhtye Celestyn uusi laulaja on vantaalainen Tony Turunen.
"Fiilis on aivan mahtava!", kertoo tuore laulajavalinta. "Koen tehtävän hyvällä tavalla haasteellisena ja mielenkiintoisena. Odotan yhtyeen tulevaisuudelta paljon, kaikella saralla."
Uudeksi laulajaksi pyrki kymmeniä ehdokkaita. Yhtyeen mukaan valinta oli kuitenkin helppo ja yksimielinen. "Tony ei ole ainoastaan kova laulaja, vaan myös hyvä tyyppi ja rehellisesti kiinnostunut bändistä.", rumpali Jere Luokkamäki summaa.
Yksimielisestä päätöksestä huolimatta joulukuussa alkanut laulajan haku ja koeajo jännitti helmikuussa pestin saanutta Tonya loppuun saakka.
"Ystäväni mainitsi loppuvuodesta Celestyn hakevan laulajaa. Etenkin uusin levy Vendetta oli pyörinyt levylautasellani reilusti, joten otin bändiin yhteyttä.", taustoittaa Tony. "Toivoin tietysti hakemukseni päätyvän muuallekin kuin vain paperisilppuriin. Yllätyksekseni sain pian kutsun studioon, jossa äänitimme demolaulut kolmeen biisiin.
Melko pitkältä tuntuvan ajanjakson jälkeen sain tiedon, että olen tullut valituksi Celestyn uudeksi vokalistiksi.", mies paljastaa.
"Tunnelmat ovat todella positiiviset ja ideoita bändiin liittyen ropisee jatkuvasti. Pyrin kaivamaan itsestäni kaiken luovuuden bändin aikaisempiin ja tuleviin biiseihin, sekä livenä että studiossa.
Odotukset ovat erittäin korkealla!", kertoo maaliskuussa ensiesiintymisensä yhtyeen riveissä tekevä Tony.

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH won ‘Best New Band’ Golden God at Metal Hammer Awards
FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH were declared ‘Best New Band’ at this year’s Metal Hammer Awards ceremony at the O2 Arena in London on June 15th. Voted for by readers of the magazine, the award was presented by Metal Hammer editor Alexander Milas and Dez Fafara of Devildriver fame.
